This website, https://darrencarter.uk, is operated by Darren Carter Hypnotherapy, a clinical hypnotherapy practice based at Markham House, 20 Broad Street, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG40 1AH. Darren Carter is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number ZC190096.

The information we collect

- Enquiry and contact forms. When you complete a form on this site, we collect the details you provide — typically your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message.
- Direct contact. If you phone, text, WhatsApp, or email us, we collect the contact details and information you choose to share.
- Bookings. Consultations and sessions are booked through Calendly, which collects your name, contact details, and appointment preferences. Calendly’s own privacy policy applies to the information you enter there.
- Comments. If you leave a comment on the site, we collect the details shown in the comments form along with your IP address and browser information to help detect spam.
- Website analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are visited and how visitors found us. This information is collected in aggregate and does not directly identify you.
Health information and confidentiality
Because we provide hypnotherapy, the messages you send us may include information about your health, wellbeing, or personal circumstances. This is known as special category data and is given extra protection under UK data protection law. We only process this information with your explicit consent, which you give by choosing to share it with us, and we treat everything you tell us as confidential.
Anything you share with us in an enquiry or during therapy is held in confidence and is not shared with anyone else, except in the rare circumstances where we are required to by law or where there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to your enquiry and answer your questions;
- Arrange, deliver, and administer consultations and hypnotherapy sessions;
- Keep appropriate records of our work together;
- Improve the website and understand how visitors use it.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to send marketing you have not asked for.
Our lawful bases for processing
Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases: your consent when you contact us or share information with us; contract when we process information needed to provide sessions you have booked; and our legitimate interests in running and improving the practice and this website. Where your messages include health information, we process it on the basis of your explicit consent.

- Calendly — appointment booking;
- WhatsApp — if you choose to contact us via a WhatsApp link;
- Google — analytics (Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager) and the embedded map showing our location;
- Google reviews widget — displays genuine reviews from our Google Business Profile;
- Embedded videos and other content — pages may include embedded content (for example YouTube videos), which behaves as if you had visited the other website directly. These sites may collect data about you and use their own cookies.
If you request a password reset for an account on this site, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell or trade your personal information. Limited information is shared with the trusted service providers that make this website and the practice run — such as our website host, email provider, and the booking and analytics services described above — and only so far as needed for them to provide their service. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
How long we keep your information
Enquiry messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you return to us. If you become a client, records of our work together are kept securely in line with professional and insurance requirements, and then deleted. If you leave a comment, the comment and its details are retained so that follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate;
- Ask us to delete your information (except where we are required to keep it for legal, professional, or insurance reasons);
- Object to or ask us to restrict how we use your information;
