Hypnosis has been around for thousands of years. From ancient Egyptian times through to today, hypnosis has been used in religion, medicine, and mental health therapy.
People often undergo hypnosis to help release stress or to overcome certain challenges in their lives such as smoking habits, obesity, anorexia, bulimia, insomnia, depression, anxiety and other conditions.
Hypnotherapy is used to help modify a person’s behaviour, attitude, and emotional state for positive changes in their lives. Hypnotherapy is usually performed by a professional hypnotherapist. Who will take you into a hypnotic state and use Hypnotherapy to help you to achieve a trance-like state, where hypnosis can be used as a treatment for anxiety, stress and anxiety, depression, fears and phobias, quitting smoking, weight management, Hypno Gastric Band, alcohol reduction and cessation. Through my extensive training and experience working with thousands of clients over the years, clients have gained powerful and successful results.
Even the NHS found that hypnotherapy can be used to treat irritable bowel syndrome irritable bowel syndrome and seen positive benefits of Hypnotherapy in treating patients. With evidence supporting the use hypnosis may be effective in reducing symptoms relating to your IBS.
The difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy is often used interchangeably, but they actually refer to distinct practices. Hypnosis, in its simplest form, is a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility. It’s a trance-like state of awareness where individuals are deeply relaxed and receptive to suggestions. Think of it as a tool or technique used to induce this state.
On the other hand, hypnotherapy goes beyond just inducing a hypnotic state. It involves the strategic use of hypnosis to achieve therapeutic goals. In other words, hypnotherapy works by harnessing the power of hypnosis to address specific issues or concerns, such as overcoming phobias, managing stress, or changing unhealthy habits. It’s a guided therapeutic process where the hypnotherapist utilises the hypnotic state to help individuals make positive changes in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. hypnosis vs. hypnotherapy, so while hypnosis is the state itself, hypnotherapy is the therapeutic application of that state to facilitate personal growth and transformation.
Before the actual hypnosis begins, both the client and the trained hypnotherapist agree to the process. Hypnosis cannot be forced on you. There will be an informal talk with questions and answers and an explanation of what is about to take place. I will guide you into a hypnotic state of hypnosis, a state of focused awareness where we will work together, for example, to reduce anxiety or stress or even control your anxiety and stress levels through techniques and tools to help you cope with daily life.
As a hypnotherapist, I would lead with my voice to gently guide you into a state of relaxation in mind and body. You may appear to be asleep, but you are awake enough to be aware of what’s going on – especially in the parts of the mind that can affect beneficial changes. You are led into relaxation, and pleasant thoughts and begin to daydream about happy times or hopes for the future.
When under hypnosis, people often feel very relaxed. It’s similar to the warm comfort of a bed when one is very sleepy. You can terminate the session at any time if you begin to feel uncomfortable. When the session ends, you are able to ask questions and discuss the experience of hypnosis.
